Susan Rozanc is director of Guitar Ensembles and Orchestra at William B. Travis Early college High School in Austin, Texas. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education and Music Performance, and a Master of Music in Music Education degree from Kent State University in Kent, Ohio.
Ms.Rozanc has 23 years teaching experience in both classroom and private instruction. She has had experience teaching many musical disciplines including band, choir, orchestra, piano, musical theater, music appreciation and classical guitar ensemble. She has also had extensive experience teaching disadvantaged and inner city, at-risk youth. Rozanc was the guest conductor for the 2000 Florida Flute Association High School Honor Flute Choir, and has conducted the Austin All-City Guitar ensemble. Her performance experiences include flute/piccolo in the Punta Gorda Symphony Orchestra and numerous church performances. She is currently Secretary of the Texas Guitar Directors Association. and is a candidate for National Board Certification.
Ms. Rozanc founded the classical guitar program at William B. Travis Early College High School in 2010. Her guitar students have received “Excellent” and “Superior” ratings at UIL Solo and Ensemble contest, State Solo and Ensemble Contest, and “Sweepstakes” ratings at Concert and Sight-reading contest, despite Travis being a Title 1 school with some of the highest rates of poverty in the state. In 2017, her Advanced Guitar Ensemble took second place at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley National Guitar Ensemble Competition. Seniors graduating from the program have been awarded $230,000 in college scholarships to date.
